WELCOME TO THE MACINTOSH DEMO APPLICATIONS CD, BUSINESS PRODUCTIVITY!
This document explains how to view the demos on the CD and includes an important request at the bottom, so please read the entire document before proceeding. Also, please read the CD-ROM Software End-User License before using any of the software on the CD.
PRODUCT & DEVELOPER INFORMATION
This HyperCard stack contains information about all of the products and developers represented on the CD. By clicking the appropriate buttons, you can view this information by product, developer, or product category.
VIEWING THE DEMOS
You have two alternatives for viewing the demos on the CD:
1. Demo Applications!
Your first alternative for viewing the demos is to double-click on the "Demo All Applications!" icon. This will bring up a series of pages containing buttons for each demo and its Read Me file. By clicking on the individual buttons, you can launch the demos directly. Click on the arrow buttons in the bottom corners of the window to move from page to page. You can also navigate using the letter keys on your keyboard. You can, for example, press 'm' on your keyboard to move to the page containing demos whose names begin with an 'm'. Some of the demos require that you change the color mode in which your computer is running; to do this, click on the "Monitors" button and select the appropriate color mode. To change the sound level, click the "Sound" button.
In addition to the "Demo All Applications!" item in the main window, there is also a "Demo Applications!" item in each of the category folders. Double-clicking one of these will show you the items available in the chosen category.
2. Demo Folders
The category folders contain a separate folder for each demo. Here you will find the demo (you can launch it from here), documentation, and sample documents. In several cases, a demo folder will contain a full working model of the application, so be sure to take a look!
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
• To use the applications on this CD, you need to be running System 7.0 or later.
• Several of the demos use QuickTime movies. If you don't have QuickTime in the Extensions folder in your System Folder, drag it there from the "Support Files" folder on the CD. You can find the "Support Files" folder by scrolling the main window.
• System requirements for each of the demos are listed at the top of the demo's Read Me file.
SPECIAL SYSTEM NOTES
• You can quit from most of the demos by typing "<command>-Q". If this doesn't work, try "<command>- . "
• Several of the demos are in the form of QuickTime movies. To view a QuickTime movie, launch it and then press the space bar to start the movie.
• A few of the demos (including the Apple Hardware Products presentation) are Aldus Player slide shows. Click the mouse to advance through the slide show. Type "<command>-." to quit.
• Several of the demos need to be installed on your system before they will work correctly. Carefully read the instructions in the Read Me file before installing a demo.
• If a demo is not working, this may be because your machine is running out of usable memory. In this case, try switching on virtual memory. You can do this by quitting to the Finder; selecting "Control Panels" under the Apple menu; double-clicking the "Memory" control panel; clicking virtual memory "on"; and restarting your machine.
• Some of the "Read Me" documents included with the demos refer to "control panels". To use a control panel, quit to the Finder, select "Control Panels" under the Apple menu, then double-click on the control panel you want to use. You can use the control panels to change the color mode you are using, adjust the volume on your computer, turn on virtual memory, and adjust other features of your computer. Note that clicking on the "Monitors" or "Sound" button in the "Demo Applications!" interface is the same as selecting the corresponding control panel.
